Hrrm.. My opinion: let them own the code.

Presumably you charge by the hour, why on earth would you want anything hanging around which might DECREASE the amount of time (I.E. $$$) the next project takes?

Of course, maybe you price out things per-project. My suggestion for that: don't do it. Time-and-materials is the way to go.

    Because when you're bidding competitively for work being able to do more stuff in a smaller period of time is a good thing.
