    Who keeps downvoting this?

As you well know, no one keeps downvoting it because no one can vote on it more than once. If you've gotten several downvotes it's probably because several people disagree with you. I know I do.

I don't see a problem at all with Skip's offer. And I don't see why you should complain about his expectations. Apparently, he's in a financial position which is requiring him to be creative when it comes to compensation. Some people may be in the position to accept the risk that is implied in his offer if they feel that the potential gain is worth it.

That's not a risk that you can afford to take. Fine. We get the point... But, the only thing that seems out of line here is your attempt to answer in the negative on behalf of every free-lance Perl developer that frequents this site.

While I personally wouldn't take that sort of risk at the moment, there are plenty of people who are willing to do so.

I suspect the rules are there on jobs.perl.org to prevent a flood of these sorts of jobs, but then there are exceptions to every rule.

You are within your rights to do so. There are few rewards in life without risks. We each must choose our own.

      Thank you.

You are certainly within your rights to hold that opinion. Which is why I am being as upfront as possible about this. I don't want anyone joining me without being aware of the risks.

But then everything is a gamble. I have shown up at the door of a regular, salaried, brick and mortar business to find the doors locked and the bosses gone. (twice in fact). Risk is a fact of life.

I have no interest in twisting someones arm to work for free. I hope and expect that the stock I will offer in exchange will be worth more than a salary would have been.

    Thank you for your comment
