CPAN.pm fetches the current/most recent version for you from your cpan mirror of choice. This will do what you want, with only occasional delays of a few hours when some other cpan mirrors might already have a newer version than your mirror of choice. Most of the time that should not be worth the trouble, or am I mistaken? Cheers, Sören
