The approval process only decides two things : If the node is visible to Anonymous Monk and people who refuse to see unapproved content If the node will show up on the frontpage At level 5 or higher (I guess) you start to see the "approval nodelet" that gives you the right (and responsibility) to decide if a post fits into these categories. Unapproved posts stay just that, unapproved. That means that they don't show up on the frontpage and that they aren't available to Anonymous Monk and people who chose not to see unapproved content. No other bad magic happens, but if a node dosen't get at least the "normal" approval, it will most likely gather a bad reputation anyway, because something is wrong if nobody considers a node worthy for the general public. It appears that nothing special happens to long-standing unapproved nodes. Consider, for example, HELP! - trouble returning values. That was posted in September and is still unapproved. I found that by going to Seekers of Perl Wisdom, selecting the "Next" link at the bottom, then editing the URL that my browser showed to change "next=20" to "next=1500" and scrolled down to the bottom looking for unapproved content. Then select "Next" and scroll to the bottom until some unapproved content appears (you need to be level 6 or above for the unapproved content to be shown at the bottom of each page). - tye (but my friends call me "Tye")	[reply]

If you're asking if an unapproved node ever gets deleted, I'm pretty sure the answer is no. As Corion kindly pointed out, it seems the worst fate of any long-standing "unapproved" node is that it is 'invisible to the anonymous \|\| self-designatedly-impressionable public'. It might help if you explained: a) what you mean by "cancelled" && b) what your reason for asking is. TTFN. -PipTigger p.s. Can't say I should I feel.	[reply]

Q&A questions are the only nodes that can be deleted by non-gods. However, an Editor Requests petition can also cause the node to be deleted, by one of the aforementioned gods. A final way is the nodes to consider feature: see vroom's recent post on the matter - however, check out the point by extremely in the reponses for a caveat.	[reply]
