I wouldn't compete in an olympic event. I can't. I'm not and will never be good enough for that; and if you're like 99% of the populace, neither are you, no matter who you are.

The only people qualified to compete in an Olympic event are the people who have been training, since shortly after birth, for the Olympics.

It takes a huge amount of time, dedication, training, native talent, and luck to reach the Olympics. You need to train for years on end; you need to have talented coaching; you need to push yourself to your limits and past, repeatly, and be lucky enough not to break every time you do it.

For every Olympic athelete, there's 100 people who didn't make it: people who tried their best and burned out: blew out their knees, tore up their bodies, ruined their edge while trying to sharpen it that last little bit. People who got tired of the pain, of the 5:00 am training sessions, of breaking their bodies down and rebuilding them on a constant basis.

You go compete in the Olympics, if you want. Me, I'll take a nice, comfy nap. :-)

Wow! Does this apply to curling too?!?
    ;-)
