My background is really in mathematics, not computers. I studied for a year at Berkeley and for several more at SUNY at Stony Brook. Unfortunately, I got kind of burned out and did not finish (so I am but an MA, not a PhD), but I had a good time with it. My interest was in things such as Banach spaces of holomorphic functions and geometric function theory. Someday I may return to this, but I don't regret having taken a break.

Nowadays I do programming for a small options trading firm. I've experimented with various languages; nowadays Common Lisp is my language of choice for most purposes. I do use some Perl, though, so I'm not totally out of place here. :-)

In the mythical spare time, I like to play electric guitar and banjo. I also enjoy reading literature. Lately I've come to discover that Faulkner is not the talentless hack that I came to know in high school, but rather one of the most brilliant writers that I've ever read. Amazing how much better he was able to get in those dozen years or so. :-)
