If the help pertains to the script then you might consider putting the help information into the script as POD and use Getopt::Long and/or Pod::Usage to do the heavy lifting for you. See the sample code in the Getopt::Long documentation to get started.

Yep. There's a very nice writeup about the combination in The Dynamic Duo --or-- Holy Getopt::Long, Pod::UsageMan!. I mean, you have to love any tutorial that contains the phrase "WWJD? JWRTFM!" Do not rebuke them with harsh words ... but rather lead them gently - with URLs - so that they may learn wisdom.	[reply]
