Re: Prayer for new joinees in perl monks
by Fletch (Bishop) on Sep 01, 2006 at 13:28 UTC
    I'm sad to say,
      I'm sorry to report
    But many new monks
      seem of a sad sort.

    They don't read the docs,
      they don't read the FAQs.
    Just expecting prompt answers
      dropped in their laps.

    You think they'll become saints;
      your hope looks misplaced.
    More likely the slackers may drive off
      the current lot, post-haste.

    Unless, in your stocking, you want coal,
    You knowledge seekers must know your role.
      Read before you post!
      That's what matters most.
    It's the journey that matters, not the goal.

    Wouldn't it just be a slight matter of rewrite, to change it from letter to poem? Not trying to steal your poem, man. :-)
    To all the saints, I pray to provide their sage advice. for with their saintly help, I soon rise into their ranks.

    I'm not really a human, but I play one on earth. Cogito ergo sum a bum
      foreach $saint (@saints) { $self->pray($saint); push @knowledge, $saint->advice(); $rank++ for $saint->help(); }
