except for the reasons why not to build Perl 6 on the Perl 5 VM which are even more valid in 2006 than they were in 2000 Indeed. I didn't mean to imply that 6-on-5 was a good Long Term Solution, just that it was something I thought was a nice consequence of the goal not to be tied to any particular implementation.
