Oh my, right after a good thing is posted, copycats appear and take the good idea to create poor obfuscation... I know I already ranted at JAPHs, but really, another "take the numbers and replace them by 'Just another'" their value?

I crave for 2 different sections, one for JAPHs and one for real obfuscation...

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

Book, the good thing you mention is arguably a take off of this node, which I posted a week earlier. But so what? All code and ideas are derivitive in some way; no work is created in a vacuum of originality. Accept this and move on. Besides, this obfuscation/japh looks pretty damned cool.

                   s aamecha.s a..a\u$&owag.print

Ah, I knew I had already seen it somewhere... Thanks for putting things back in order.

I am not arguing about take off (after all, code is meant to be shared), but more about taking good ideas such as what can be found in those two nodes, and create rather poor derivatives.

Well, yes it looks good, as do some of the nodes found in Obfuscated Code, but as far as the code is concerned, it's very poor. The two nodes mentionned earlier at least tried to do something original (code that matches /^[\w\s]+$/ is original in my view, at least the first few times), with rather unknown (at the time) possibilities of s///.

I don't ++ code that only looks like ASCII art. It has to have at least some obfuscated value.
