No kidding! This Sunday we took the kids to a local farm and chose pumpkins, then my wife and I made fresh pumpkin cheesecake.

Maybe I'm spoiled by living in the Midwest, but fresh pumpkin pastries and pies are absolutely fantastic.

Unfortunately, growers are breeding pumpkins these days for carving and size, not taste. Fortunately, there's been a backlash (see Tuesday's NYT article which requires a login). So yeah, go taste! I speak as someone who makes an excellent pumpkin pie and pumpkin soup (I chose "Functionality" for my vote).	[reply]
