Life is what you make of it. When my little girl was born, besides the enormous happiness and the feeling of uncertainty (of being up to the task) I felt, was the impression of being caught by nature again. There it was in front of me, "eternal life"...and I will never be selfish again.

Life is complicated, tough and cruel and I think the one magic recipe --that brings happiness -- is to share and help others. This is the spirit through which a few madrid Perl hackers are trying to revive madrid.pm, the spirit of all the Perl monger groups, and definitely the spirit of this wonderful place called Perl Monks.

    Merry Christmas to all.

and my second choice would be 'life is too short'; too little time to code what I like ;) --

    Great poll.

In Mario Puzo's The Godfather, the title character's last words are "Life is so beautiful". All of the other choices are great, but I had to choose this one.

And I have to close with another quote .. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" .. thank you all for this wonderful, creative, intelligent community. Long may it live.

Hmm... life and Perl. Life is like Perl, without use warnings, use strict, or -T.

Rarely are you about to make a mistake, and you're warned about it before you make it. In life, you seldom get a "you sure about that?" Inevitably, it comes back to get you.

Sometimes, you just get into completely innocent misunderstandings that metasticize into huge problems, mixups, trying to find out who did what...something that can happen if you're not following all the rules.

Lastly, sometimes you can take a completely appropriate reaction to an event life gives you, and it still blows up in your face.

    And that's my $0.02.

    To quote a great film:

"I mean, why do people think that life should always be happy? You Know? Because when I was a little boy, my mother used to sing me a song. It went like this:

Life is short. Life is $h1t. And soon it will be over."

On a serious note, life is fantastic.

LOL, great quote, I didn't think anyone else had ever seen that movie (me exaggerates)

"To be civilized is to deny one's nature."
It has never been released in the UK, either in the cinema or on VHS/DVD format. The film critic Barry Norman campaigned for a cinema release, but it never happened. BBC 2 have screened the film late night (well early morning really) a couple of times. A friend gave me a DVD of the work print which has an alternate ending to the North American release, which I have not watched. If you have not seen this film and ever get the chance to do so, please make the effort :)
