If you were a perl operator, what perl operator would you be? I'd be bind =~ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

    Some days it is undef. No deciding "is this true?" or "is this false?". Just make everything false. Always!

    Other days it is rand:

    "Why did you return that?"
    "I don't know and I don't care!"

    Update: rand dropped by my cube and showed me his job description. He is supposed to be really random and completely predictable at the same time. Man, that sucks. :(

    Definitely <=> :)

    This and The Marcel Perl Questionnaire remind me of a self-description technique I've heard referred to as a "Chinese self-portrait," with no idea what is particularly Chinese about it. The technique is to answer a series of comparisons like:

    • If I were a color, I'd be...
    • If I were a metal, I'd be...
    • If I were an activity, I'd be...
    And so on. So if you know what sort of operator you'd be, then what statement or modifier? What module, or regexp? The answers don't have to be the same as the Questionaire -- you might not be the operator you like most :)
      But beware if someone at a party asks you to say what your favorite body of water is and then to describe your feelings about it...

      *grin*

      ah yes, but as bind I can match any color, I can match any metal, but I dont think I could do anything with activity. I would have to be a loop terminator like next or last =)

    If you could have happiness in any shape, what shape would you choose?

    I would definitely choose my happiness to be in the shape of a spear... that way I could impale myself on happiness.

    Maybe I'm just uppity today but I'd want != since I feel that there is no equal to me =)

    From these answers I would have to say that we may need some of those nice white jackets that tie in the back....

    LOL

    I honestly do not know what operator I would want to be though.

    I think I would be the &&= operator. :)

    I would most definitely be the most unique of the perl operators. The only trinary operator: ?:

    Oh, to be unique.

      ... but, of course (this would be my Ob/comp coming out); you can be unique, you can be rare, you can be common but you can't be the "most unique". If there's only one, then there's ... well, only one. ;->

      I've always liked =~ (so much adventure) but .= has both the best look (dadaist wink) and value. For me, of course, this is the dog talking.

    Now let's see, what perl operator would I like to be?
    Quite frankly it's fine with me, if it's any of these three:
    q qq qw

    ___crazyinsomniac_______________________________________
    Disclaimer: Don't blame. It came from inside the void
    perl -e "$q=$_;map({chr unpack qq;H*;,$_}split(q;;,q*H*));print;$q/$q;"

    a has got the right of it: .= would have to be it...
