Sorry the delay in replying. I was fairly sure it is a Perlism that is just beyond me.

For completeness, it is running on 32 bit redhat 4 (2.6.17), memcache 1.2.2 and Cache::Memcached 1.24.

Also; Apache 2.0, Perl 5.8.6, gcc 4.0.2, mod_perl 2
