    The functions listed under "Numeric functions" in perlfunc as well as most of the ops listed in perlop.

    regards to algebra...there are no built-in functions. there are modules though for this. search for algebra on CPAN.
    the hardest line to type correctly is: stty erase ^H

    An algebra in the broader sense is just a set and operators that work on that set.

    For example the set of all possible strings and the concatenation operator . form an algebra. Check the wiki for more details.
