Hmm... of those listed, one is known for small boat sailing, and having built two boats. If I were stuck on an _island_, I know which one I'd pick.

If it were stranded anywhere else, I guess I could do the world a favor, and at least get Larry the Cable Guy away from them. (note -- I used to like him in small doses, when he did radio commentary ~8 years ago, but he's just no good in large doses)

I'd fully expect a visit from Cyclone Larry

No, no ... that would be if you were stranded on a "tropical" island :-)

      Cheers,
      Rob
I've been wondering about that for a long time: do people ever picture themselves being stranded on, say, Bouvet Island or Jan Mayen?

If this was a desertic island, I know at some point I would really like to have Larry the Lobster in for dinner!

I say Larry the Cucumber, because that guarantees a timely rescue with humor, music, minimal trauma, and an obvious moral.
And he's a tuba player! (OK, technically a sousaphone...)

And I hear that Larry Boy is really Larry the Cucumber in disguise.

I'm not sure that I'd want to spend time with any of them. Although I think I recognise a couple of the names, but I don't know any of them.

From a Monk with your experience I'd expect that you know Larry Wall at least ;-)

While I know of him and have "met" him in the CB, I can't say that I actually know him personally.

I hadn't heard of him before this poll, but I had to go with Larry Pardey for the practical aspect.

I was the SECOND Larry Linville vote? Really? I thought this early in the poll I'd swipe his first vote for sure.

Who else is the Major Burns fan?

      Frank Burns eats worms!

(No, I didn't vote for Mr. Linville, but I was the guy who suggested he be added to the poll.)

I'm sorry, but I am not crazy about the idea of being stranded on a desert island with anybody named "Larry!!"

Call me a hopeless romantic, but my first choice would be someone oh.. say.. like my wife!

That would be problematic though. She's afraid of boats and airplanes.. not sure how we'd end up being stranded there together anyway. I'd probably end up being stranded alone like Tom Hanks and talking to a soccer ball. Not bad unless I end up arguing with the soccer ball and losing. Oh... yeah.. that's what happened to Tom...

Eh.. forget the whole desert island thing. Probably end in tears says my robot. But then.. he's depressed.

Speedo or not, I would go with L Pardey (after all somebody has to know what & how to do with a boat on the water).

My first thought was "none of them" and then I voted for "Larry the lobster" for nutricious reasons.

My favorite Larry would be Lara Flynn Boyle, but she is not in the list.

But maybe I should sacrifice myself and save the world by spending the rest of my life on some deserted sub-antartican island together with Larry Ellison.

    Which Larry carries a boat?
I don't know if he carries a boat, but Larry the Cucumber has already been stranded on a desert island in "Larry's Lagoon", a sendup of Gilligan's Island. So at least he has some experience, though perhaps not enough to get him elected President...

Being stranded on a desert island is an experience that counts positively for being elected President? Given that experience in Washington is viewed, by some pundits, as a detriment, Philip Nolan would be best suited of all Americans to run against Washington....

hmm... well, I've been stranded on a desert island (twice, actually). Should I run for president? ;)

        I don't think I will - I'm not even american ;)

But then again, maybe you guys could do with a non-american president.... ;)

My assumption is that Larry Ellison would only travel to an island via one of his yachts.

If I were stranded on an island, I'd of course want a pen, a notebook, and Larry Wall there with me. This way I can sit him down and learn more Perl while we're stranded. Then I'll bring all my knowledge back home and kick butt. I think he'd be mad though :-)
Two points: first, you'd be learning Perl 6, and second, he's already mad. :)

What's wrong with Speedo's? They're the best swimwear available. I really HATE those long trousers in swimming pools. They look awful. A new trend seems to be to wear a knicker or a speedy UNDER those ugly trousers, and have the trousers way too low, so you can see the speedo below. Yuck!
    /me imagines a pool full of all above Larry's in Speedo's :)
I don't believe there is any objection to Speedos. Only to who chooses to wear them.

And, much like you, I am puzzled by the increasing trend towards redundant pantage. I am undoubtedly showing my age ...
