Ex construction worker and landscape gardener until I ripped my clavicle ligament.
I was always curious about computers and am a self-taught Perl monger so I've been in Unix admin, support and development roles for the last 50lbs and entertain myself by pottering about the garden @ the weekends.
Currently work involves supporting a suite of docker apps which conspire to deliver a terrifying amount of data to a Vertica backend. While everything is written in Java, Python or Node, I still find Perl the most effective way of putting together rapid log parsers and have contributed a number of Perl tools to the support arsenal. With that said, I'm most often found in Python these days.
