Palm perldocs

by d4vis (Chaplain)
on Apr 05, 2001 at 01:45 UTC ( [id://69907]=perlmeditation: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

A couple of recent threads have bemoaned the fact that Perl doesn't run on the PalmOS (yet). It may be small consolation, but I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew that at least the perldocs are available in PalmDoc and TealDoc format here. I just realized they were there today, and since it struck me as non-obvious, I thought I'd pass it along.

I'm actually pretty thrilled that I'll be able to read the perldocs in meetings and still look like I'm diligently taking notes.

Ooo, that is much nicer than the nasty hack I did to get some of them on my Handspring. Every day, perl makes it a little easier to pretend to work. =)

Thanks for the link. I've been looking for palm ready perl docs for a while and I just never thought to look on CPAN. Question for everyone: Would anyone be interested in TealInfo type docs for function quick refrences.. and then maybe module quick refrences? I've been working on a little app to format standadardized TealInfo docs and my fist runthrough was going to be a Perl function list.

A show of hands would be helpful to know how usefull people would think this was..

Actually, you could've converted em yourself... More on it, here, here, here and at your local Palm App archives :)

Now if somebody would just give us a Palm version of Perl itself... I've got portable C, BASIC, and hell even Python, but not the Swiss Army Chainsaw language that I love. :-)

Although I am still waiting for some sort of Perl to be made availble for my Palm so that I can have something to experiment on while sitting in those loooong, _boring_ classes, I agree with d4vis: atleast I can learn more about Perl while _pretending_ to take notes! :)

    Thanks d4vis!
