At the Catalyst mailing list there was another call for collaboration between the various Catalyst CRUD frameworks. At CPAN there are many other very similar libraries (let's take as an example the templating solutions). It would be really beneficial if all that effort was not duplicated but instead was pushing into new areas - but such call to arms very rarely work. There are important psychological reasons for that - everyone is too proud of his own solution to abandon it and support his competitor - and some technical reasons too.

So here is my idea, istead of trying to steer each other's project into our goals let's try to find some sub projects of common goals to collaborate on. Let's extract pieces from out projects that we think can be beneficial to our competitors and offer to collaborate on them, let's look into each other projects and propose ourselves what could be extracted. Isn't that more compatible with our psychology?
