I use a larger and more buffers, but otherwise the same. I tried adjusting them to your settings for a session, and it made no difference.

I'm running Vista 64, but I doubt that is an influence. And AS 5.10 64-bit which might be.

I have the same - Vista 64 (Business, SP1) and AS 5.10 64-bit (build 1004). Looks like this will remain unsolved for a little longer yet :-)

I have Home Premium SP1 rather than Business, but that's unlikely the cause. The only other thing that comes to mind is that I have it set up with UK keyboard & codespages etc. Are you using the default US setup?

According to "Regional and Language Options" I'm using "English(Australia)". Some might argue that's contradictory.

If you have PDL installed, I'd be interested if you could verify that the arrow keys are also not working for you in the perldl shell. (It's not going to help much - beyond indicating whether we're dealing with something exclusive to the cpan shell.)

        Cheers,
