Accessing the message inbox

I read (in Using the Message Inbox) that, on a per user basis, ...there is a link to the Message Inbox page just below your private messages in the Chatterbox nodelet.

My problem is that I don't see it (all I see in the CB nodelet is any conversation, any un-deleted messages and links to CB help & other CB client).

My workaround is to visit my own home node, visit the linked send msg node, visit the linked message inbox node and then, finally, add the current node to my personal nodelet.

Self-evidently, the docs and the implementation are out of kilter to some degree - question is, is it the doc or the implementation that's in error ? Or, worse still, yet another chair keyboard interface problem ??

A user level that continues to overstate my experience :-))

Below your undeleted messages should be two links, reading something like:

    • And 970 more, 52 archived

Well, that's what mine looks like, anyway. ;-)

If you click on either link, you will be taken to one folder of your Message Inbox, either the default folder, or your archived messages.

Indeed, you (& ig) are right - but the links only appear when I have undeleted messages. I was expecting the links to be present anyway (maybe in the Chatterbox nodelet), so I conclude it's an exercise in expectation management (from my POV anyway).

Try archiving one message. Mine shows up if I have any messages in the archive box, too.
If you really want to have the link always available, you can use either the free nodelet or personal nodelet. They're pretty handy.

IIRC, it may show up if you have more messages which aren't displayed in chatterbox nodelet, or you need to look higher.
