in reply to On Voting

I tend to spend 0-3 votes daily excluding what I consider to be 'administrative downvotes' (downvotes to remove trolls or blank posts) and I've never felt that a node I've upvoted had too high a reputation.

If you find yourself thinking that some nodes are good, but not that good, you might want to consider reducing the amount of votes you spend. Vote only on the nodes that you consider wonderful. If there's a post that has a higher reputation than you think it deserves, it won't matter, because you won't be able to see its reputation.

I'm not suggesting this as a solution for everyone. If you are happy with your voting and how it works for you, you should certainly disregard this suggestion. But if you find yourself thinking posts are overvalued, this offers a way to have your vote counted the way you want it to be, without putting any requirements on how other people vote.

I agree. I don't vote on a node unless I like it. That usually means that it was understandable to me, or it had a good point, or I can see that someone tried before posting a question. I don't like it when I see "How do I" rather then "I tried, but." I usually have votes left at the end of the day. Oh well, I'm not very experianced in perl and I don't need the XP points anyway. I have been guilty of personality voting (only to the up side) but I see so many wise monks that seem to never get the answer wrong, that I just have to ++ something that I would normally leave alone. Sorry.

By the way, ++ kudra and footpad
