game ideas?

Lately I have been looking over some the excellent tech magazines that reassure us that the next step in the new generation of the internet is almost here. Well personally I am a little bored of waiting for all this new stuff, and just want some way to be entertained. That is why me and a freind have made it a goal to make our lives a little better, and maybe some others along the way...

I would like the help of monks on just some game ideas... you know those one's that you always have, but do not have the time to do. I know this may not seem to have a purpose with Perl, but I have every intention to use Perl as the primary language of choice.

Thank you for your time...

In Spanish: "Los pijamas no tienen gusto de comer las tostadoras grandes del carnívoro."

Actually, I was thinking of writing a particular card game (Egyptian Rat Race|Rat Slap|Horny Slap|whatever) using Games::Cards. That in itself would be very simple. But then I got thinking, let's make it graphical and use Games::Cards::Tk. And then I thought to myself, why don't I make it a multiplayer online game instead of using a cheap randomized AI (since it requires at least two players). But then I thought, will I actually ever do this? Prolly not. So if you feel like doing it, go for it!

I always wanted a networked version of nethack. When I first heard of it I thought it was networked. I mean, nethack, it sounds networked. That's probably not the sort of idea you want to follow though. Nethack is a really pointless game.

In German "carnivore" isn't "Tier" it's "Raubtier". Further Germans don't like to use "mögen" they want to use "möchten" which is closer to "want" then to "like" but is used anyway in a situation you're describing. (All puns intended) By the way I'm German.

Of course, it depends on what sort of games turn you on.
If you want to take part in a larger project, look at SourceForge and check out the Project Help Wanted Link. It will give you an idea of what others are doing.

Even if none of them are interesting, it could spark off some ideas.

Unfortunately, most of the games are Linux/C based.

Having just bootstrapped my MySQL knowledge and reworked luke_repwalker.pl to access the mysql DB using Tie::DBI (which makes the code look cleaner), I am keen to play with a larger project using MySQL.
