How do I link to a Google search?

One can link to a standard Google search by using the form: [google://QUERY]. (Of course, replacing QUERY with whatever you want to search for.)

Also, one can take advantage of the "I'm Feeling Lucky" search on Google by using the linking form: [lucky://QUERY].

In conjunction with either of the Google link methods, one can make use of the advanced Google search parameters. For example:

  • [google://dynamic image filetype:pdf] would link to a search for "dynamic image" but only return results for PDF files.
  • [lucky://dynamic image site:stonehenge.com] would link to a lucky search for "dynamic image" that is limited to the domain stonehenge.com (merlyn's website).

See Google's Advanced Search Tips for more information.
