I'll be avoiding my 5 year old trying to "fool" me all day. She'll try and that will be cute.

Nope. April Fool's day is amateur hour for practical jokes. It's like drinking on St. Paddy's day or New Year's eve.

And as for actual poll answers: "not believe a single interesting thing that comes out of anyone's mouth or off of any website until I've verified it myself."

    Me
In Georgia in the early 1980s, the cop's nickname for New Year's Eve was "Amateurs' Night."
I'm starting a text-file titled "possibly useful information in case of time-machine malfunction", and adding your factoid.

Update: wait ... are you talking about the Soviet Union?

on 1-April, I'll be at work. Which I guess makes me a fool, because it's also the first day of trout fishing season in NY, and also opening day for Major League Baseball.

Given the forecast for NYC and numerous other MLB locales, methinks it's Major League Baseball that's the fool -- for starting the season so early.

What ever happened to the notion behind "Boys of Summer?"

Now, "trout fishing?" That's a horse of a different color!

When I was growing up in Cleveland - it wasn't opening day for the Indian's at Municipal Stadium if it wasn't snowing. Nothing like sitting just behind the dugout eating leftover Easter jellybeans, wearing heavy winter jackets and wondering if Len Barker will have another perfect game.

I'll be offering a new translation service for my in-house web-based software, loosely based on Acme:L337.

Also, default dialogs, sound like yoda they will.

..enjoying the fact that I have had the opportunity to be foolish for almost 50 year now, and can honestly say that while one does not need to be foolish to attain wisdom, it does help.....

..it is unwise to be overly motivated to avoid foolishness, as one is almost certain to fail...

..now, where did I set my beer.....?

    Update

ah-ha! ..it was right next to my Johnie Walker wisdom collection... how appropriate...

    • ...the majority is always wrong, and always the last to know about it...

be wondering why yyyy/4/1 is associated with foolishness

I once read that it was celebrated by non-Xians to make fun of the "fools" who believed in the Virgin Birth. Calculating backwards from December 25th on our current calendar, i read, comes to April 1st. I've often wondered if that works out with all the details.
