Why doesn't posting messages on this forum work?

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Why doesn't posting messages on this forum work with Netscape 4.x

I am using telnet to post this message, since using Netscape does not work.
When posting a message using Netscape, I get a page that says stuff like:

I could post your message as a:
and then there's a list of options.
If I choose one of these options, a blank message gets posted.

I think the problem lies in the fact that when clicking on NEW, my message is not put in the location bar, meaning that my message is being submitted via POST, instead of GET, like it used to for me.

Any thoughts?

I'd try it again if I were you. Let me know what test post you try to make. Right now messages may not appear right away until they get moderated... that has caused some confusion for some people but I'm not sure that's the problem.

No, it's the same thing all the time! But when making a new message, does it send the info to the script through POST or GET?
The only reason POST or GET would matter is in to the lenght of the content (GET has a max, 256 I think). I can tell you.. I use Netscape 4.72 on my Windows 98 machine and IE 5.0 on my Macintosh system and everything works just fine for me. Did you hack your netscape? If you really need to know the method just view source with netscape and you can see it in there METHOD="????". That's one of the plus (kinda) of HTML. There is no way to hide the code from the users.

Anyhow... Check your browser configs and see if IE will work for you. I don't have any trouble posting.

Got the same strange problem in windoze with netscape.
When posting my title of my post got filled in search??
Don't know now... But I'am used to odities in netcape. Like sometimes iy won't load any page...After reboot it works fine...

Don't know what the problem is, but hey thank the world for different products so I can switch when I want.
Blame the world for different products and platforms(try to program cross-platform, or make a website that looks and works fine on all platforms with all browsers and you'll know what I mean!)

I always thought the placing of the title in the search was a feature not a bug. It's like a quick search. Allows you to quickly search on your topic. Providing you gave it a good title :-)
