Tag for referring to nodes?

What's the best way to make a reference to a node? I would like to do:
In [node=9201] this node[/node], mr X shows his stuff.

For the above you would write [id://9201|this node]. That would create a link like this: this node.

While you can use numbers and they are unambiguous it is easier to use the node name.

For example to link to your home node I type [princepawn] to get this link: princepawn

If I want to use a different name I use a | char after the real name, thus [princepawn|some dude] gives this link: some dude

The only problem with names is namespace conflicts. In this case PM throws up the nodes with the same nemes like this link links.

If a node with the name you specify does not exist PM displays search results based on that. Very neat really.

    cheers

Except that the author might have intended an exact match but made a typo or mistake. It would be neet if the preview window showed such links in a different color, so he'd be aware of it (no change to final view, just preview).

As explained in Nifty New Feature you can also refer to a node as a bare number, but this can cause problems if there is a node named as that number.
node 666 or named 666 illustrate that point and use [node|other name] as well.

Though I suspect the naming convention is not what you're really after since you've been here long enough to have probably used it.

Just look in the Site How To. For things not explained there, check out turnstep's homepage. Straight from the Site How To:

You can also follow it up with link text that you want to use in place of the node title like so [id://131|The Default Page] whic[h] creates a link like so: The Default Page.
