This makes me wonder if PerlGtk works on MacOS X w/o X11.

    I might guess that the Glib module, the one that does the connection handling, would work without x11, it does on Linux. So you could probably strip the GUI Gtk2 code out of my code, and it would work at the console level. It's just a guess based on the way it works on Linux, but MacOS might work differently.
