Rat bastards. But you can make it good. After I couldn't bear web development anymore and begged for a slot in the next round of layoffs (and got it) I went back to school at age 50 and got a degree in forestry. Do that! Or the like. School as a grownup is pretty terrible but also kind of great. And what's come up for me faster than proper forestry work is... web development! But now in data viz and all sorts of researchy things that I had no connection to before, and I love it again. Good luck, man. You're okay.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
