( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??
Alright... I actually have a story, so I might as well tell it... Back in my high school days (about '93) I was introduced to the BBS world by a school friend, and at his house connected to the ever popular local BBS... which had one phone line, about 20 current users and was run by a Land Surveyor/Bassist in Pemaquid Maine (real populous area :). That first time logging on JP (the sysadmin) happened to be on, and we were chatting with him... Well, whenever he would type my name (Anthony) the o kept turning into u or i... and so, to save some typos, I told him he could just call me 'Ant'. So, through buying my 2400 baud modem for my 8088 at a screaming 10Mhz to finding the internet at college, I have been Ant. Which, if you've ever been to a techie college you tend to get called by your online name more than your real name... so subsequently my friends, wife, and even my parents at times call me Ant... but I am Suaveant here.. and on CPAN... so where does all this come in?

It's all ant's fault! That poop logged into the PM before I did and stole my name!!! (Oh well, at least he actually logs in from time to time...) So, I needed a name, so I used Suaveant, a play on my nick and the domain I own for email and whatnot. Also, since CPAN requires at least 4 letters for a PAUSE username, I figured I would stick to my PM name and use SUAVEANT....and there it is... the whole exciting story... :)

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
