Like tommyw it works fine for me as well (same version of Perl but different version of Solaris):
Running make test
PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 /usr/bin/perl -Iblib/arch -Iblib/lib -I/usr/lib/perl
+5/5.6.1/sun4-solaris -I/usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1 -e 'use Test::Harness qw(
+&runtests $verbose); $verbose=0; runtests @ARGV;' t/*.t
t/cookie............ok

t/function..........ok

Is the error with 5.6.0? I utterly failed to install cpanplus on 5.6.0, which was why I finally installed 5.6.1 a few months ago (and yes, upgrading fixed the problem). The reason for failure was deep inside LWP::Request. Does that set off warning bells? Either that, or maybe you fixed the error without realising it :)

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
