I find that the best way to be aware of new modules is to subscribe to the CPAN Updates mailing list, or to check the various places where the lists are posted.
Just being subscribed to the daily mail list for a while now, and skimming it on a regular basis has kept me informed of all sorts of new modules, and given me a good feel for which modules are continuesly being updated on a regular basis.

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
