Your first task is to examine your own motives.
- Are you trying to help these people get their work done faster & better? - Are you trying to spread the use of perl? - Are you trying to impress others? - (append large list) If not the first choice, then you'd probably have better success teaching pigs to sing. If your first & highset goal is to help them, whip up some scripts that solve some of their real world problems, as others before me have pointed out, and let it go. If you get one or two people who see the power of the language and want to persue perl further, count that as a bonus (but don't expect it).
