Paco was one of the earliest public (i.e., not a friend or aquaintance of Tim Vroom) users to join up and ask a legitimate question on Perlmonks. The question pertained to visiting a directory structure recursively. The answer back in those days was to use File::Find. These days, the answer would probably tend more towards File::Find::Rule or File::Finder, depending on what you wanted to do. They certainly have nicer interfaces. Funny what a difference a few years makes. Paco sprang to prominence a few years later when Ovid ran a "Vote for Paco!" sig for a while. After the Paco node threatened to take the lead in the Best Nodes thread, demerphq rewrote the best nodes stuff to present a random selection of culled best nodes. We never saw Paco again. Antivroom. Back in the old days, we made a big fuss about when the site hit 1e5, or 100 000 nodes. Bets were laid. Fortunes were made and lost. I had a question I wanted to ask at about the time of the 99999 rollover, about installing Math::Pari. In my youthful foolishness, I tried to claim the spot. Of course, I should have known better. Antivroom scored node 100000. I had to settle for node 100001. I suppose this means that I am crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Which is why it pleases me no end that at the time I write these lines, I am the only voter for antivroom. It makes for a certain sense of closure. - another intruder with the mooring in the heart of the Perl In reply to Re^2: PerlMonks Survivor would be won this season by: (antivroom or paco)
