Well, the monastery has come far from its Everything Engine roots, but linking by name is still a key aspect of the site design. As a matter of fact, I'd like to see its use expanded rather than reduced; I really prefer to say VSarkiss instead of 72267. It's just that a lot of our node names aren't easily linked, not like on Everything2.
Granted, there are cases, such as when writing Site Docs, that id numbers work better, but for widely visible nodes like those on the monkbar, I'd prefer to keep using names.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
