Not all the above. Too bad, I really would like to have been on a Space Shuttle. But...
  • I have logged in while taking a bath, both in my own home and in another home.
  • Train, boat, car (yep, while driving, once)
  • Home, another home, at the office
  • In a very nice pub in Cambridge (not StarBucks, but hey, free wifi!), while watching the telly, England beating Andorra in a soccer match.
  • Can't remember about a washroom, so I guess not.
  • Too old for school (well, at 43 I could teach, and yes I know, at 43, I could follow a course).
  • My university! Yep. The Amsterdam Perl Mongers organized the Third Dutch Perl Workshop in the main building of my "old" university in Delft. Even though it was 20 years ago that I was a student, it still felt "mine".
  • Somewhere else... yep, plenty. In a park. And in our backyard, on the terrace, in the garage. Visiting the neighbours, using our own wifi-network. In the building of the Birmingham City Symphony Orchestra during YAPC::Europe::2006 (I've seen other Perl Monks there who did the same).

Most unusual place... the boat. The high-speed trimaran ferry from Hoek van Holland (The Netherlands) to Harwich (United Kingdom), and back. Wonderful to read nodes while speeding the North Sea, taking over immense cargo ships, and once in a big storm.

I hope to be able one day to log in while taking off in a rocket to outer space. Shuttle, SpaceshipOne or whatever. Gotta get rich first... but how... once upon a time we have a Wendy in space. Wendy keeps on dreaming.

Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
