As you can see, ask a general Perl question and you'll get a ton of options - don't expect this to change! But to narrow it down for you I'll point you to some resources:

Learning Perl is a great introductory text for the uninitiated.

GUI Options:
  • Tk (most used I think, works on all platforms)
  • Win32::GUI (Windows only)
  • Java::Swing (uses Java's Swing library)
  • wxPerl

  • Pseudo-Compiling Options:
  • Perl Packer (part of Par dist) - recommended
  • Perl2Exe (third-party application)
  • Note that both these options permit GUIs. Also, to implement GUIs for large apps you should read up on forking.

    Finally, I'd be remiss not to mention always use strict and warnings.

    Title:
    Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
    and:  <code> code here </code>
    to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

    • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
    • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
      <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong>   <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
    • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
    • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
