I would down vote for obviously incorrect information, or a blatant attempt at misinformation, as well as continued off topic banter (Note: I said 'Continued'). Other than that, I can't see why I would -- rather than make an attempt at educating. Of course there are always exceptions.

I frankly don't care if I'm ++'ed or --'ed. In the case of a negative vote, I especially don't care if it's by someone who doesn't have the bawls to leave a little note as to why they chose to down vote me.

In my opinion, your opinion matters if you can back it up. If you're just shooting your mouth off, I have no problem flipping the bozo bit on you.

I read this forum to learn, as do many others. I don't need popularity, especially the kind generated by sycophants and those that feel that they, as supposed holders of knowledge, have the right to judge my opinions and questions.

My ignorance is quickly remedied, and I will be motivated to remedy it that much quicker by an ego that needs deflating.

C-.

Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
