( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Based solely on the announcement, it looks like Rakudo Star is the "first real release of Perl6" that I was so eagerly looking forward to six or eight years ago. Logically, I should be very excited about this, jumping at the bit to try it out ASAP.

Emotionally, for some reason, I find that's not the case now. At the moment, the idea of playing with Perl6 sounds more like work than fun. How did that happen?

Perhaps it's just because it's August, and it's been eighty degrees in the shade at night with a gazillion percent humidity since late April. Maybe when the weather cools down a bit and I get a couple of decent nights' sleep my enthusiasm for Perl6 will return, eh?

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
