Your code snippet comes straight out of the module synopsis, so far for "original work". And of course it will not do what you want.

And looking over the module source, I can find no mention of the word "host". So I don't think the module does it.

As it apparently is just an interface to a command line tool "dmidecode" which doesn't even take arguments (in this module), I can only recommend to run the command line tool by hand and see if the data you're after is even there. If it is, you might be able to amend the module to produce the info you're after.

BTW the man page for dmidecode doesn't mention "host" either.

Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>

to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
