in thread In my home, the TV remote control is ...

That is why I do not want a soundbar: another remote will be just one too many for at least one person in our home

Sonos soundbar is under control of the TV's remote as well. But that is usually hidden under couch's pillows, under the table or the carpet, in the kitchen, invisible most of the time. But then there is a Smartphone app that can do everything the remote can, except switching on the TV.

Does it at least switch OFF the TV? That's the most important function.

Yes, even if not in the vicinity of the TV.

Agreed. However, previous to the soundbar, audio from the TV/game console/media player came thru the stereo tuner, which is too old for remote control. The pain of the additional remote is assuaged by no longer needing to get off the couch to adjust audio.

there are many ways do fix that. I need TV remote and Soundbar remote for turning it on only. I got a HD-Receiver where you can usually connect to your tv aswell. When I was about to connect TV it accidently connected Soundbar which means I can remote control HD-Receiver and Sound Bar by one. For me its the ebst solution I ever had, even if this was an accident :D.
