Finally... I got 'round to uploading my image. Yes, this really is Hagen. He just has me do the typing 8-)

He's my beloved Great Dane aka Ch Telstadt Talk 'O the Town and he'll be 10 on 16th November 2003. Sadly a very good age for a Dane

heh heh... last para just recently caused a ripple in the CB with some learned Monks - ybiC, dhoss, tye and others. "Am I the oldest Monk" they asked?

I was born in the first half of last century - 1947 specifically. I've spent all but 3 months of my working life (beginning Nov 1967) getting paid to do things with and to (business) computers - or their early antecedants 8-).

However, it's easy gathering age, you just avoid dying 8-); gathering skill and wisdom is something that requires a bit of effort, hence my continued avocation in the Monastery

More recently...

IDMS (OS/390) and Oracle (Unix&NT) DBA.

Bought the camel book May 2000 (just missed 3rd edition, rats!) but didn't `get it'. Got Learning Perl from our library.

Now have Perl in a Nutshell, Perl Cookbook, Programming the Perl DBI and Perl Debugged. Now I think I `get' a little of the Perl tao.

Perl experience mainly limited to DBA/Sys Admin s‎crip‎ts. Have written (for money) remote monitoring suite for Oracle on NT, and a few other 'one-offs'.

Avid lurker on beginners-digest. Fan of `japhy's' posts, despite the fact I've just found out he's about 1/3 my age! And I am looking out for his book.
