That's K&R style from the "bad old days" when
an extra line meant an extra punched card. Now we
don't need to worry about #num punched cards. 
We can be "extravagant" by putting { on a line
by itself!

   ...stuff in sub...
}

..now continue with other stuff # MUCH better!
