maartin and I are having an argument about weather or not the "Edit your user information" page's submit button is supposed to say 'stumbit'. She says that since it's a 3 letter phonetic difference that it was probably intentional but I don't think so. Normally, as a bad speller, I wouldn't presume to point out a spelling mistake. But this is a matter of a bet. >)

    You 'submit' a post, you 'stumbit' your user info, it's as simple as that.

    'stumbit' is a feature. that's our story and we're sticking to it. but it isn't featured everywhere. i think this spot is most likely a typo, in that vroom probably added new code to the everything core for the user settings and forgot to scope 'submit' correctly. however, the input name is still correct. (go ahead, view source, i dare you)

      When I read that post I figured I may still stand a chance. It may be a typo... but I suspect that (based on a chatterbox comment you made to me: "...all i know is that 'stumbit' is an Every Devel Corp in-joke.") I lost my bet... *sigh*

      Ok... but what on earth is Every Devel Corp? I assume I didn't read far enough. I'll go look that up now. ;)

    Ahh, but the greatest reason of all to assume that it isn't a typo: If it was supposted to say "submit", there isn't anything that needs to be typed at all; it's the default text for a submit button.

       Is it possible that 'stumbit' has a hidden meaning, kind of a running joke amongst the admin of this site? I have heard the term (excuse the French in advance) "Son Of A Bitch" said with sort of a twang as "Sum Bitch"(Which is heard quite a bit here in eastern TN).

    It may have started out life as a typo, but I wouldn't dare to suggest that it should be changed. I like it the way it is, and I suspect that most of the other long-time monks do too. (if the 8 months this site has been up qualifies as a long time) So yes, it is supposed to say 'stumbit', at least, now it is.
