Is there a particular reason you rolled your own perl on you laptop?
I have a macbook pro with Leopard installed. It has :
And I can cpan anything I want. I can understand if you wanted to run 5.10 or something, but if you are also running 5.8.8, why not use the one that comes with Leopard?
