mdavidson has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Does anybody know of any good perl/Gtk documentation online? Specifically, I'm after a nice, gentle walk-through introduction like the perl/tk chapters in <cite>Advanced Perl Programming</cite>, plus a quick reference.

I've only found one substantial tutorial on the web, but it's incomplete, and a bit hard to follow. The only quick reference I can find is in the pod that comes with the module, and that's succinct to the point of uselessness.

i thought O'Reilly was supposed to be publishing a book on Perl/Gtk, but i don't think it's available yet.

does anyone know what the deal is with said book?

i too would like a decent tutorial or reference for Perl/Gtk.

update: i found out that the book is supposed to be written by Mandrake (Geoff Harrison). it looks like it's been on hold for about a year. i can't find any recent public information on it (hopefully that means he's busy perched in front of a computer somewhere writing it, but i'm afraid he's probably spending too much time hacking).

i had a dream last night that this book (or at least some book on Perl/Gtk) was sitting in the window display of some bizarre book shop. it had a solid, fluorescent blue cover and was the size and shape of an art book, not a computer book.

i went in to have a look at it, but somehow i was distracted and lost my chance. if i ever have another chance to check out what's in the book, i'll let you all know ;).

i found another page here called "Where to get Gtk-Perl documentation". i'm still checking it out to see where it leads me.
