Hey all-

Just to let you know, I have been busy lately, but finally got around to completing the first set out of (yet to be determined, depending on how well these are accepted/declined).

What? You haven't heard of this PerlMonk idea? Well, just to help you with background info, check out this somewhat old node here.

Well, what are you waiting for? ;) Here is the link to the zipped, tarred, and feathered icon 12 pack (set 1) at: located here!

There is a README file stuck inside the package, so make sure to check that out if you have time. Hope many monks out there like these! I spent a bunch of time on it, and hope at least they might be used here and there ... please? Even if they aren't used, that is ok. Thanks again for all of those people out there for their feedback and various ideas related to this discussion topic in the past few weeks! ... and also, thanks, vroom for approving of this idea of mine as well!

Have a good one,
Andy

Cool, nice job!! I put up a small page showcasing them (for those who might want to see the images before downloading the tar file.

Update: This is only a temporary page, so don't create IMG tags refering to the images in this location.

Update2: changed link to point at bladx's page.

    -Blake

First of all, I would like to thank blakem for putting up the temporary page when I didn't have time to yesterday! It helped a ton.

Second of all, I put up the "official" showcase page for now, at:

      http://bladx.perlmonk.org/pmicons/icons/index.html

So if you want to link to any of these, you can do that as well. (But I would suggest downloading the package, , and putting up the images you are going to use, on a server of your own, so that the perlmonk.org server doesn't have to be used for serving these icons all over the world.)

Um... bladx? We're not PM.org. In fact, though the site seems to be having issues at the moment, somebody entirely else is PM.org, and PM in general. So I don't think those elements of the set are winners, for this site at least...

Of course, a certain number of people here *are* Perl Mongers members, so for them it's a win-win. :-)

Otherwise, I have to say I like the "Powered By Perlmonks" idea more than the "Perlmonk, I" motif (though those are most shiny). I suppose it fits better with my sense of humor. But that, I suppose, is why have a large set of them--something for everybody. ;-)

I agree that PM.org is a bit misleading... However, I'm pretty sure that both Perl Mongers and Perl Monks are in the process of being united unter the YAS umbrella. If thats the case, they aren't really "somebody entirely else" at all.

Oh, and I second the nomination for the "Powered by Perlmonks" theme.

      -Blake

I understand your thoughts completely about the titles on the buttons :-) in the second pack, there will definently be tons of other types of buttons, so everyone will have one they might like.

Thanks for your thoughts, and I will get right on starting a new pack soon! If anyone wants to help out, Chady has already let me know that he wants to help out, so if anyone else wants to help out, that'd be great!

      Thanks for the positive feedback!

I particularily like 11, 6 and 1. Number 10 breaks when I view it in gqview, although konqueror copes fine. I'll be putting 11 up on my site, that's for sure.
