If you need any help picking a restaurant or a bar I'd be glad to help. Any preferences to location or cost?
If we are going to be more than 6 it is probably a good idea to book ahead, especially if we are going to meet on the 17th (a Friday).
Lombardi's is possibly the greatest pizza place on the planet Earth. It is in Little Italy which could give us easy access to the Village and the Lower East Side
Time Out New York is a good place to look for stuff also.
BTW - Radiohead is playing Liberty State Park, Jersey City on the 16th and 17th. It is an outdoor show with great views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. I'm still trying to get tickets, but hopefully I'll get to go one night, they have ferry service from Manhattan.

gregor42 has graciously arranged to organize or make reservations for us however we need to settle on a price
range and genre(s).
If you're thinking about attending reply in this post with a price range and any suggested types of eating establishment. Actual locations work too.
Since gregor42 offered I'll put him in charge of making
the final call. We will give it two days and then based
on the suggestions offered he'll make a final call. Sound good?

This sounds like it could be cool I'm always up for an excuse to pop into the city for an evening..
As for locations I'll have to think about that | [reply] |

Whoo hoo! That sounds super-cool. I shall make every effort to be there. I'll probably bring along my girlfriend.

I cannot make any promises because that is around the
same time that my wife is going away and I don't know if
those two days will be free. But if I can reasonably be
there, I will.
As for places to eat, what budget/area/type are you
thinking of? It makes a huge difference if you are
just looking at traditional pub or diner type food or if you
are willing to look at different cuisines. (Thai, Afghan,
Greek, NYC has it all.) It makes a
huge difference whether we are talking $7/person,
$10/person, or $20/person. | [reply] |

Great!  I've clicked   add "Monk gathering in NYC".
I'm thinking -- all the places I can think of are gone (or very small). :-(

Hm... that weekend now has
- a Monk gathering in New York
- a college friend starting Med school at Cornell
- the Mariners playing the Yankees in The Stadium
It begins to seem like I should arrange to be in New York. :-)
