Wx-Perl-Imagick sample editor

Steve_BZ has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi Guys,

I have been looking for a photo editor recently and I came across Jouke's Wx-Perl-Imagick. At the moment, I have a very basic photo editor attached to about 6 buttons written with Wx::Image and displayed on a Wx::Panel in a sizer.

My partner is complaining that it is really TOO basic. I browsed the cpan directory, but there appears to be no Wx-Perl-Imagick sample editor.

I am about to download the module and play around. But it would be a much quicker task if there was already an editor frontend that I could use to 'harness' the api.

I wondered if anyone had an example that they would like to post?

What is the purpose of making your own photo editor? Do you have some sort of special functionality in mind? Rather than rolling your own, you could add features to another editor, such as GIMP, which is extendable through plugin and scripting APIs. When's the last time you used duct tape on a duct? --Larry Wall	[reply]

Do you have some sort of special functionality in mind? Absolutely not, I just want to integrate it into my existing system, pass it variables have it pass things back to me, behave according the GUI standards set in other windows etc., But I'll a look at GIMP, really all I need is a framework. If you want to extend an ImageMagick script with Perl, you need to see Perl Magick page. You can see how simple the commands are, and no one I know of yet, has codified them into the Wx framework. For examples of what you can do with Tk, see Tk and ImageMagick . If you want an example of making sliders in Tk, to set your PerlMagick options, see SuperFormula with gnuplot and Tk. All you need to do is learn how to rebuild the image and re-display it, then setup some sliders and spin boxes to set your PerlMagick options. I'm not really a human, but I play one on earth.
