VinsWorldcom has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:
It seems Net::Ping doesn't support IPv6 so I set about writing a patch and submitting the patch with a 'feature request' under the CPAN RT bug tracker: https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=80479
I also emailed every address for every author / maintainer of Net::Ping I could find on CPAN and in the POD. That was 4 weeks ago.
Perhaps I should just wait longer, but I thought the 1 month was customary before escalating. I'm not looking to take over maintenance of Net::Ping, but I would like some help finishing the patch (ICMPv6 has an issue but all other methods works) and perhaps writing it properly for a new version. I'll admit my patch is not the best bit of coding as I try to shoehorn IPv6 support into current Net::Ping where a module architecture redesign might better serve the final product.
Anyone know if Net::Ping is still actively maintained? Anyone care to help finish the IPv6 support?
